Auction giant Manheim’s latest monthly Market Analysis report shows that, at £6,068, the average selling price was only 1.7% (£103) down in August compared with July. In July the market fell by 6.3% (£413) so the market does look much healthier. The August Market Analysis also shows that conversion rates have improved slightly – this the first month-on-month improvement since February. A survey of 100 UK franchised dealers conducted by Manheim Retail Services, shows that demand for used cars is holding up in spite of the general economic uncertainty. Manheim’s latest monthly Market Analysis report shows that even though the slowdown reported in the UK wholesale used car market in June has continued into July demand for lower priced ‘budget’ vehicles has remained strong. The effect of the current economic uncertainty is also compounded by the seasonal downturn at this time of the year.
